Radiation Instruments

5-day workshop, US$ 1,895

Ludlum meterThis workshop provides practical hands-on experience with a variety of portable and laboratory radiation instruments. The course will cover portable instruments including ion chambers, proportional counters, GM meters, and a variety of NaI, plastic, and ZnS scintillation detectors.

The course will also cover laboratory instruments including proportional counters, NaI and solid state detectors, and liquid scintillation counters. We will emphasize how to choose the best instruments for your needs, how to set up and assure that instruments are working properly, how to properly use each instrument, and how to calibrate each instrument. The course also provides instruction on how to interpret radiation measurements, quality assurance, and how to troubleshoot instruments.

2007 Instruments Class PhotoHalf of each day will be devoted to practical hands-on exercises which will cover instrument calibration collection of survey and dosimetry measurements.

Participants will receive an extensive Radiation Instruments Manual, a certificate of training, and free refresher training (you may attend this class again free). The primary instructors are Ray Johnson, CHP; Dr. Alan Fellman, CHP; and Sean Austin, CHP.
