How to Avoid Radiation Litigation

2-day workshop, US$ 795

Are you protected against being sued?

This 2-day workshop is offered for managers, RSOs, and HPs with responsibilities for radiation safety who would like to position their companies to avoid financial liabilities related to worker radiation exposures. This first-of-its-kind workshop includes legal counsel, understanding radiation risks, elements of effective risk communication, and a review of radiation incidents and legal consequences.

Experts in each of these areas will discuss why radioactive materials licensees are ripe for lawsuits, how to determine worker’s radiation risks, radiation risk models, relative risk and probability of causation, strategies for avoiding litigation, and preparing for litigation if necessary. The workshop will include how to deal with “junk science,” how to prepare and present expert testimony, and how to effectively communicate with attorneys, judges, and juries. Another critical issue covered in depth is the importance of documentation and recordkeeping.

The faculty for this special workshop includes attorney Dave Wiedis, Esq. (from the law firm of Jose & Wiedis where he specializes in radiation litigation defense). Mr. Wiedis is a well known national speaker, having conducted nearly 100 seminars and workshops on radiation litigation issues at dozens of nuclear facilities in the USA. Other faculty from the Radiation Safety Academy include Dr. Alan Fellman, CHP (a specialist in radiation risk assessments) and Ray Johnson, CHP (a specialist in effective risk communications). The workshop is limited to ten persons.
