Analytical Equipment Calibration ServicesCalibrationInitial calibrations and continuing calibrations are conducted routinely on all instruments the ASD utilizes. The development of efficiencies, mass attenuation curves, quench curves, and other forms of calibration all employ the use of NIST traceable standards. Traceability documentation of all standards used to calibrate the counting instruments is kept on file with the Analytical Services Director. Initial CalibrationThe initial calibration of all instruments used to analyze samples is conducted at the start up of each machine, when an instrument is moved, and when an instrument is serviced. The calibration procedure is dependant upon the machine being questions i.e. quench curves, direct efficiencies, spectroscopic shifts, etc. All procedures are conducted under regulated methods when applicable or by the manufacturer’s recommended procedure. Continuing CalibrationControl charts and performance tests are used to verify the calibrations of the instrument on a daily basis. The continuing calibration procedures are measured against industry standards for upper and lower acceptance limits. Failures of performance tests or control points are reported in a quality assurance report on a quarterly basis and are kept on file with the laboratory director. |
